French documents for an Indian company: legalisation and translation

CA Utsav Dogra, Chartered Accountant, ICAI M. No. 542375 · Updated

In brief

Indian authorities need the French parent's kbis extract under three months old, its constitution, a resolution naming the investment and signatory, and identity papers for each director. Apostille by the competent French authority. French documents need a sworn English translation.

What is specific to French companies

France and India are both Apostille Convention parties, so French documents need an apostille, not consular legalisation. Every French-language document needs a sworn English translation.

Generally no; an apostille is accepted. Confirm for each document type.
