Chinese documents for an Indian company: legalisation and translation

CA Utsav Dogra, Chartered Accountant, ICAI M. No. 542375 · Updated

In brief

Indian authorities need the Chinese parent's business licence and articles, its constitution, a resolution naming the investment and signatory, and identity papers for each director. No apostille between China and India; notarisation, Chinese authentication and Indian embassy attestation. Chinese documents need certified English translations.

What is specific to Chinese companies

The Apostille Convention does not apply between China and India, so documents go through a Chinese notary, the foreign affairs office and the Indian embassy or consulate. Certified English translations are needed.
