Compliance calendar for a Japanese-owned Indian company

CA Utsav Dogra, Chartered Accountant, ICAI M. No. 542375 · Updated

In brief

The Indian company files every month whether or not it trades: withholding tax by the 7th, GST on the 11th and 20th, provident fund by the 15th. Each year brings the AGM by 30 September, company filings after it, the tax return and the FLA return by 15 July, all to be aligned with a Japanese parent closing on 31 March.

What is specific to Japanese companies

Japanese parents often close on 31 March like India, so Indian figures are needed early for the May results.

Questions

Does a company with no revenue still file?

Yes. Company-law, tax, GST (if registered) and FEMA filings continue regardless of revenue.

General information as at 5 November 2026, not advice for a particular case. Indian and Japanese rules change often; confirm the current position before acting. Japanese law points should be confirmed with a Japanese adviser.
