In brief

Foreign nationals need an employment visa (salary generally at least USD 25,000 a year) and, for stays over 180 days, FRRO registration within 14 days. Plan tax residence in both countries, the certificate of coverage, and family visas, housing and schooling, starting two to three months ahead.

What is specific to Japanese companies

Chuzaiin and families need employment and dependant visas; plan housing near Japanese schools in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru or Chennai.
