Compliance calendar for a Australian-owned Indian company

CA Utsav Dogra, Chartered Accountant, ICAI M. No. 542375 · Updated

In brief

The Indian company files every month whether or not it trades: withholding tax by the 7th, GST on the 11th and 20th, provident fund by the 15th. Each year brings the AGM by 30 September, company filings after it, the tax return and the FLA return by 15 July, all to be aligned with a Australian parent closing on 30 June.

What is specific to Australian companies

The 30 June Australian year means the Indian year spans two Australian years, so a reporting bridge is essential.

The Australian parent closes on 30 June, so three Indian quarters fall in one Australian year and the bridge needs care.

Questions

Does a company with no revenue still file?

Yes. Company-law, tax, GST (if registered) and FEMA filings continue regardless of revenue.

General information as at 5 November 2026, not advice for a particular case. Indian and Australian rules change often; confirm the current position before acting. Australian law points should be confirmed with a Australian adviser.
