How long it takes a Hong Kong company to start operating in India

CA Utsav Dogra, Chartered Accountant, ICAI M. No. 542375 · Updated

In brief

From the Hong Kong board decision to an Indian company that can invoice usually takes two to three months: 1–3 weeks for documents on the Hong Kong side, two to three weeks for incorporation, and up to a month for the bank account and first remittance. Government approval under Press Note 3 adds its own, often longer, timeline before investment.

What is specific to Hong Kong companies

Press Note 3 approval typically takes months, so plan the commercial timeline around it.
