Effective 16 February 2026, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs restructured Registrar of Companies (RoC) jurisdictions across four of India's busiest states, creating six new RoC offices. Timeline
The restructuring was notified under Notification No. S.O. 4849(E), dated 23 October 2025, issued under Section 396 of the Companies Act, 2013 (which empowers the central government to establish RoC offices and define their jurisdiction). The notification originally set an effective date of 1 January 2026; a further notification dated 30 December 2025 deferred that to 16 February 2026, which is when the new offices actually opened. Alongside the six new RoC offices, the Ministry also established three new Regional Directorates.

RoC Pune (covering Maharashtra outside the Mumbai region) was already a separate, pre-existing office and was not created by this restructuring — it is unaffected.
States and cities that did not change
Only the four jurisdictions above were split. States that already had their own single, statewide RoC office continue exactly as before — including Karnataka (RoC Bengaluru, covering the whole state, including Bangalore), Tamil Nadu (RoC Chennai, covering the whole state), and Telangana (RoC Hyderabad, covering Telangana only — a jurisdiction that has been separate from Andhra Pradesh's RoC Vijayawada since 2018, following the 2014 state bifurcation, and was not touched by this 2026 restructuring).
